Styropek has a wide variety of beads (modified and unmodified) designed to provide exceptional performance when used in applications in the EPS market.

These applications include, but are not limited to, the construction industry, thermal insulation, part molding, and industrial packaging.

Modified Beads (with flame retardant)

Styropek BF(95)

Modified EPS bead with flame retardant and medium pentane content (average of 6%) as an expanding agent. Meets RoHS (see certifications section for more information) regulations. Available in different bead sizes to cover a wide range of applications, from low density block molding (0.63pcf) to high density shape molding with thin walls and smooth surfaces (up to 2.50pcf). Modified Beads (with flame retardant)

Styropek BFL(95)

Polystyrene bead modified with flame retardant and low pentane content (3.7% on average) as blowing agent.
It complies with REACH and RoHS regulations (see certifications section for more information) and due to its low pentane content it complies with gas emission restrictions in force in different regions of the USA, with the additional advantage of obtaining short molding times.

Available in different bead sizes to cover a wide range of applications, from molding of medium density blocks (14kg / m3) to molding of high density parts with thin walls and smooth surfaces (up to 64kg / m3). Styropek P(40)

EPS beads without flame retardant and medium pentane content (average of 5.5%) as an expanding agent. Meets REACH and RoHS (see certifications section for more information), and also appropriate for food contact applications according to FDA regulations for polystyrene plastic components. Also available in different bead sizes to cover a wide range of applications, from low density block molding (0.63pcf) to high density block and shape molding with thin walls and smooth surfaces (up to 2.5pcf). Styropek P(40) MP

Styropek® P-40 MP products are: P-240MP, P-340MP and P-440MP. Styropek® P-40 MP products can be used in a wide variety of applications including protective packaging, food packaging, fish boxes, coolers and seedlings.

BIOPEK MXP

Biopek MXP sample was tested using ASTM D5511 and demonstrated enhanced biodegradation of 16.5% in 229 days as compared 0.3% biodegradation of standard EPS sample, when tested under the same conditions for the same period of time.

DYLITE F271BIO

Biopek F271BIO sample was tested using ASTM D5511 and demonstrated enhanced biodegradation of 84.3% after 1027 days as compared to 1.1% biodegradation of standard EPS sample, when tested under the same conditions for the same period of time.

BIOPEK MXP LP

Biopek MXP LP sample was tested using ASTM D5511 and demonstrated enhanced biodegradation of 16.5% in 229 days as compared 0.3% biodegradation of standard EPS sample, when tested under the same conditions for the same period of time.

Certifications and Regulatory Compliance

All Styropek products are third party certified to ensure the highest quality and performance for a specific product application. Third party certification also ensures that foamed products made with Styropek EPS beads will meet the performance criteria established by international organizations, companies and governments.

The three main third party certification companies that we have chosen to partner with in certifying our products are Underwriters Laboratories UL, International Code Council Evaluation Service ICC-ES and Factory Mutual FM.

UL

Styropek BF(95) BFL(95) EPS products are certified in physical properties and surface burning characteristics by UL as Foamed Plastic component to be used in Thermal Insulation and building applications according to standards ASTM C578 and ASTM E84. UL certification also includes compliance for Geofoam applications according to the ASTM D6817 standard and complies as a plastic component to be used in devices and appliances according to the UL 94 standard.

ICC-ES

 

Styropek BF(95) & BFL(95) EPS products are certified by ICC Evaluation Service for being in compliance with several International Codes valid in the USA and Canada for building applications. Also ICC-ES certifies that Styropek BF(95) & BFL(95) products are qualified for thermal insulation according  to the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria for Foam Plastic Insulation (AC12), and meet physical properties and thermal insulation characteristics  specified for polystyrene according to the  ASTM C578 standard. ICC certifications and details are listed in the ICC-ES Report # ESR-1498.

Styropek® BF(95) & BFL(95) EPS products are certified by FM Approvals against standards FM 4411, 4651, 4880, 4881 and 4882 for walls and ceilings applications.

Styropek® BF(95) & BFL(95) EPS products are certificated by Greenguard® program as low emissions products for furniture and commercial building applications, due are in compliance against requirements on UL 2818 Standard for Chemical Emissions for Building Materials, Finishes and Furnishings.

Styropek® products BF(95), BFL(95) & P40 are in compliance with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) regulations, due that the SVHC (Substance of Very High Concern) content in all Styropek® products is under the required limits, as stated in Test Reports by Intertek Testing Services Taiwan Ltd.

Styropek® products BF(95), BFL(95) & P40 are in compliance with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) regulations that restricts the use of Lead, Mercury, Cadmium & Chromium VI, and some flame retardants known as PBBs (Polybrominated Biphenyls) and PBDEs (Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers),  in plastics components. All Styropek® products are under the required limits, as stated in Test Reports by Intertek Testing Services Taiwan Ltd.
