Our Legacy

2015

Start of operations as Styropek in Mexico, USA, Argentina, and Brazil.

In 2015, Styropek began operating under its current name in Mexico, Houston, Argentina, and Brazil, consolidating a strategic production and distribution network across the Americas. This move strengthened its regional presence in key markets, with plants designed to meet the needs of sectors such as packaging, construction, and thermal engineering.

The expansion in these countries laid the foundation for an integrated operation focused on efficiency, quality, and customer proximity. Since then, Styropek has maintained a firm commitment to innovation and the development of reliable EPS solutions tailored to the challenges of each industry.

2019

Alpek signs targets aligned with

In 2019, Alpek reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by setting goals aligned with the Paris Agreement. This milestone marked the beginning of a defined strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move toward a more efficient and responsible operation.

Among its main objectives are the reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, using 2019 levels as a baseline, and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This initiative strengthens the company’s focus on sustainable solutions, integrating eco-efficient practices into its production processes and promoting an environmental culture throughout the organization.

2023

Achievement of Sustainability Market Standards Certifications — ISCC and SCS

In 2023, Styropek obtained ISCC PLUS and SCS certifications, two internationally recognized standards for their focus on sustainability and material traceability. These certifications endorse compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria in the production of expandable polystyrene (EPS).

The ISCC PLUS certification ensures that the materials used come from sustainable, recycled, or bio-based sources, while the SCS certification validates responsible practices throughout the entire supply chain. With these accreditations, Styropek strengthens its commitment to the circular economy and offers its customers more transparent solutions aligned with global sustainability goals.

2025

Extrusion Project

In 2025, Styropek reached a new milestone in its circular-economy strategy with the launch of a state-of-the-art extruder capable of processing up to 25,000 tons of recycled material per year.
This investment marks a decisive step toward more sustainable production, enabling the reintegration of plastic waste into the manufacturing cycle and significantly reducing reliance on virgin raw materials. The new extrusion line not only expands operational capacity but also strengthens Styropek’s portfolio of EPS solutions with recycled content, meeting growing market demand for more environmentally responsible products.
